Avalanche
In the afternoon, witnessed a skier triggered (presumed wet) slab on the steep lower apron of United States mountain above the Camp Bird mine. It released on a NE aspect near tree line, WS-ASu-R2D2-i . The slab originally released about 18” deep under recent storm snow, but a portion stepped down to an adjacent layer The second skier on slope triggered the slide and was able to ski out. The other remaining members in party skied down further to skier’s R without incident. The first skier down had warned the party of wind board in the small feature they were skiing in and advised party members to stay further right from where he had skied.
