Big Slide is located just below treeline,is east facing at 10800'.In shaded areas HS ~40cm comprised of facets 1-2mm. Larger depth hoar have formed around shallow rocky areas. In areas exposed to the sun you can find a ~10cm thick 4F crust which is easily broken by skis. As you travel further south, HS becomes ~30cm and the snow surface was moist by noon.
