25% clouds, 50 degrees fahrenheit, 11k elevation at about 1 pm a beautiful day for a ski

no pit dug but there was quite stable snow above treeline and significantly more slushy below

south east face of james peak looks like it had a large wet slab avalanche within the last few weeks. a large crown can be seen from far away.
