Partly cloudy to overcast skies throughout our tour with occasional light snow showers. Temperatures started in the single digits before topping out around 15F. NW winds increased during the day, and were moving a fair amount of snow around by mid-afternoon.
Snowpack
Height of snow where we dug on a SE aspect near treeline was about 2' deep. The upper snowpack was fist hard, with hardness increasing to 1 finger as you moved down the snowpack to the ground. No persistent weak layers were noted, however a melt-freeze crust was observed just below the surface. The height of snow where we dug on an E aspect was about 3' deep. The structure was the same as observed on the SE aspect, however there was a discontinuous melt-freeze crust noted about 10cm above the ground.
Avalanche
No avalanches were observed in or around the terrain we traveled in.
