the snowpack in this zone is thin and especially reactive at this time. HS 80 cm. dug pit on 17° on WSW aspect 9800' BTL. site was in exposed area with few trees. 5 CTs as follows: CTV (on isolation) @ 80 cm down (ground) CTV (on isolation) @ 80 cm down (ground) CTV (on isolation) @ 50 cm down CTV (on isolation) @ 80 cm down (ground) CTV (on isolation) @ 50 cm down 80 cm down failures on facets 50 cm down failures in 4F snow above a thin (2-4 mm) M/F layer with F hardness snow below
Avalanche
no avy activity noticed. countless woomphs throughout tour from 9200' in open meadow up 9800' at turn-around point. some smaller cracks appeared after collapses at lower elevations.
