Snowpack

Variable surface conditions. Most open areas on the flat terrain have a thin sun / temp crust. Sheltered and N facing slopes are holding soft snow with some SH observed laying flat. HS is down 5" from last visit on 1/22. The lower snow is evident at the Cliffs Avalanche Area where there is very patchy snow among the rock slopes and talus. Profile in previously drifted location above the Cliffs revealed a faceting slab and the 1/20 temp crust continues to facet from below especially. Extended column test results were similar to previous obs at the top of the DH despite the slab seemingly becoming less cohesive. 1/20 crust failed on a burp test below the crust on 1 mm FC but didn't propagate with the ECT as before.
