Snowpack

Snow coverage on southeast aspects around Loveland Pass is shallow and discontinuous. In the Little Professor I found snow depths ranging from essentially 0" to at most 8". Snowpack structure consisted of facets on a 1-2" thick melt-freeze crust. In some places this crust was on the ground. In others you could find a couple inches of depth hoar underneath. In wind affected areas I could find a localized, thin wind slab that was maybe an inch thick and would produce cracking around my skis.
