Strong winds in the area on Monday and Tuesday, calmer with gusts on Wednesday 1/30. Most recent snowfall on Monday 1/28. Temps 0F-15F.
Snowpack
Powder below 12,000. Firmer slabs and icy crusts in windward areas. We did not observe significant cracking or collapsing on our SE approach of Peak 12,316', but we did observe wind loading on many adjacent slopes.
Avalanche
Wind slab avalanche breaking within old snow surface at 12,000' to 12,200' elevation band on SSE 32-36deg slope on the east ridge of Peak 12,666' (along the divide). Likely slid late on 1/28 or on 1/29.
