Scattered clouds with temps around 10F at the Loveland Pass weather station with moderate northwest winds. Hn24 2"/0.15"SWE.
Snowpack
Features below treeline with a south aspect and in the sun were showing signs of warming, with the snow surface becoming moist. I did not observe this near or above treeline. On a north aspect near treeline I found a cold, winter-like snowpack. Where I dug the snow depth was right at 3 feet. The top foot consisted of decomposing new snow, with a harder rounded layer sandwiched in-between. ECTN results below this harder layer. The mid-pack consisted of a couple of hard, rounded layers. This sits on top of about a foot of rounding depth hoar. ECTP results on the top of the depth hoar. Northwest winds were forming a very small cornice at ridge top that was reactive to ski cuts, but only breaking the length of my skis.
