Headed up Rowe Peak to get a look solar effect today. Below 1900m was a 3cm breakable melt freeze crust from day time heating. We found 5-15 cm in sheltered areas. Variable N-E winds have created 5-30 cm windslabs in lees in the alpine. This overlies hefty melt freeze crust at all elevations, on all aspects. Top 400m was good skiing, the bottom 400m was survival skiing.
