Weather

Fairly calm on the ridge above SH139. The road summit was a bit different with the gap effect through the summit producing moderate south winds. Cool temperature and ample sunshine.

Snowpack

Douglas CDOT personnel recorded 58" of snowfall during the Holiday storm series from Christmas Eve morning to New Years Eve day. This snow fell on mainly bare ground and old crusts in the south-facing paths above SH139. There is 45" at the sheltered, shaded snowstake and 6-16" in the south-facing paths above the road. The snow is plastered into the paths and start zones by previous south and southwest winds associated with the storm series. There is some cross-loading apparent in Pipeline Face which faces southeast. There is continuous snow in the south-facing and southeast-facing paths above the road in the Headwall (Bowl) and around Pipeline Face (Schnauzer Area). See snow profile
