Avalanche

As we traveled, we saw some small NTL avalanches that we thought were from earlier in the week or after the large storm but were probably from today. As we skinned up, we had very variable snow surfaces. Before cutting across to a more windswept couloir, we crossed a loaded pocket below some rocks. We were traveling on low 30* terrain. We mentioned right before the slide that it felt more slabby. The pocket released from above us about 100ft in steeper terrain next to rocks. We were both on the slab in uphill mode, caught and carried. One skier was able to get to the side after a short ride, and the other skier was carried the full length of the debris and was on the surface approximately 600ft from the crown.
