Snowpack

A new persistent slab problem may be developing on certain, specific or even isolated slopes. I found a thin layer of small facets below the storm snow on 3 profiles on northeast, east and south-facing slopes below treeline. Only one of the profiles (east-facing) produced propagating test results and this was not on the facets at the storm intervace but between two melt-freeze crusts below the storm snow. No collapsing or cracking on the moderate angled slopes I travelled on.
