Sunny and warm in the morning when the slide appears to have been triggered (we did not trigger the slide or see it happen)
Snowpack
Approximately 30 cm of wet, dense new storm snow on top of an incredibly slick melt/freeze crust
Avalanche
We observed a recent wet slab avalanche that appears to have failed on the melt/freeze crust beneath the newest storm snow (we did not trigger or witness the slide but it was obvious that it happened today). Crown varies in size, indicating possible wind loading as well. It looks to have been triggered by two skiers (tracks are lookers right in the photo). Propagated about 80-100’ and ran the whole length of the path to the bench below. The ski tracks continued out below the debris.
