10,600 ft, NW, Monarch Pass. Two breakable melt freeze crusts atop the snowpack made for an interesting descent where sun peeked in days prior! Below the crusts were layers of rounds and facets rounding, including the depth hoar. Still a way to go. CTs failed consistently on the depth hoar in the CT24-29 range, SC. ECTX. PST (ARR) 56/100 down 95. Wx was OVC, mild temps, light west winds made it feel colder, winds got stronger around 1pm. #coavyobs
