Snowpack

North-facing slopes above 12,000 feet are a patchwork of surfaces varying from orange-peale areas of exposed 1-2 mm facets to firm wind-compacted snow surfaces. Around 12,500 feet, I found an isolated slope of fairly consistent snow depths up to 25 cm consisting of a 3-4 cm crust sitting over 1-2 mm facets. This crust was not supportable to boots/human weight.
