PLEASE NOTE: SNOWMOBILING IS PROHIBITED WITHIN KIANUKO PARK. Two snowmobilers were caught in a size 2.5 avalanche on the afternoon of March 17. One of the snowmobilers was able to ride out of the avalanche. The second was fully buried with a deployed airbag and was recovered successfully with injuries. This resulted in a Search and Rescue callout to evacuate the injured person. The avalanche occurred on a south aspect at 2225m, was 200m wide, with a fracture line 50-100cm deep and was suspected to have run on a crust layer that formed in mid February.
