20 cm of overnight snow in the Asulkan parking lot. 40-50cm deep trail breaking off the old uptrack. Hasty hand shear taste at treeline on a north aspect gave easy result down 25 soft storm slab over older storm snow and moderate resistant planar down 50 cm under 4f to 1f older storm slab. Found an old broken probe left in place slightly below the top of the west run off Glacier Crest. We packed it out and sure had a couple good laughs at it dangling off our friend's pack. The skiing down was all time but a snorkel and goggle wipers could have been really helpful at times. Upon reaching valley bottom in the Asulkan, we saw a group of 5 people skiing/riding the fan of the first large avalanche path off Mount Abbott. Their skin track was going right up the fan and further discussion with one of them confirmed that they had been sessionning that fan most of the day. We briefly talked about all the new snow, stability and the overhead hazard of that feature. We think he got the message. The ski down Abbott Mini was also amazing.
