We did the Proserpine to Groundhog Lake loop today. It's an area we are well familiar with, however this was our first time riding here this season. We decided to keep off large features and have a good look around. Sheltered areas had stiff windslabs, while areas exposed to the wind were hard and scoured, forming what we call sastrugi. We dug a pit in a sheltered location and easily found the two persistent weak layers from December. We had no test results on them but given their potential for large avalanches if triggered we will not trust them yet this weekend.
