We were the first group up on pulpit 5 today. We decided to ski one of the semi-open tree’d runs down to the lake. As the first skier (me) entered the run and made 3-4 turns a size 0.5-1 avalanche was triggered. I stayed on my feet as the avalanche was triggered below me - running all the way down to the lake. No one was caught. Another group behind us then decided to ski the run to the skiers left. They triggered another avalanche and the skier deployed their airbag. No injuries to them either - both members were okay. Prior to skiing the line we dug a pit (88cms depth - no obvs results) and we’re assessing the snow along the way. The snowpack was variable but we felt it was appropriate to ski a “more” tree’d line. In terms of the layer triggered, our initial impression was the crown was around 50cms (eyeballed) in depth. Although I didn’t stick around to measure the crown. We skiid out the tighter trees and went home.
