Mt. Athabasca Ramp Route Avalanche

A large avalanche occurred over the Ramp Route on Mt. Athabasca on June 25th at 22:45.

From field reports it appears to be a wind slab avalanche possibly from the recent snowfall on June 23rd.

This is a good reminder that avalanches can occur at anytime of the year in the mountains and bringing avalanche rescue equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe) should be standard practice for mountaineering and alpine climbing when traveling in avalanche terrain.
