At 1750m we found 60cm of new storm snow in the area (which was still rapidly accumulating as we left at 4cm/hour and wet snow/rain at the staging area.)The overall snowpack depth at 1750m averaged about 125cm. The staging area at 1500m had only about 20cm overall of very wet slush. We found the mid November crust down 90cm - It's our belief that this layer, along with the storm snow interface are the two primary layers of concern right now. The attached photos show some cracking on the crust along road banks (1700m) on our way out of the area. Some other sledders in the area reported numerous large avalanches in the Barnes Lake area and said they could hear more naturally triggered slides occurring throughout the day. Avalanche hazard was certainly high today.
