We climbed 200m towards Mt Roar before deciding to turn back. At the start there seemed to be adequate coverage (thin layer of powder on top of ice), but snow got more and more sparse to the point where there was visible ground and tree debris on the trail. We hiked back down the skin track and went elsewhere.
