Clear and calm
Snowpack
Buck Mountain, East aspect, 10,500ft, 36 degree test slope. HS: 200cm. Lots of evidence of recent wind loading & avalanche activity. Hasty pit revealed 3 stiff slabs (1 finger to pen hardness) sandwiched between weak layers within the top meter of the snowpack. Compression tests scoring in the easy to moderate range with good to high quality planar shears.
Avalanche
We observed several avalanches in the Diamond Park area. All activity was confined to East facing slopes, at or above treeline. In all cases these avalanches looked to have been naturally triggered sometime over the last few days, following the latest snow & wind event from earlier in the week, Photos below are from Dome Peak (East face along Trail Creek / Wyoming Trail), Buck Mountain (entire East face), and Little Agnes (East-facing ridge along the northern-most section of ridgeline).
