Snowpack
Out at St. Marry's Glacier today with some friends to do some Beacon practice and dig a few pits to keep up the skills. While there was some not sure how old avy degree at the bottom of the lake near the cliff band the snow was stable. We dug one pit on the North East side of the lake near the trees but was in the sun about 4'. We did the shovel compact test counting to seven with our shoulder and got no fracture. We could still see the loose snow from last Oct near the ground and it was interest we did the test on the column then dug down to the next layer, did the test again and it did not fracture until we got to the layer above the snow from Oct. About 3 hits and a big slab came off our column. Hope this is helpful. My best, Tim=
