Weather
Clear and cold overnight resulted in good freeze. Partly cloudy in morning.
Snowpack
3" supportive crust (@ 7 am) on top of 6"-8" of sugary grappel mix. Ascended avalanche path with fully consolidated base to about 12,500' and found similar conditions outside of path. Descended from that point.
Avalanche
Occurred 1 or 2 days prior. Appeared to start around 13,000 and ran to about 11,900. About 5m at start and 20m at widest. Did not see ski tracks above, but 3 sets of tracks came from the debris pile. Seemingly small and shallow release up high resulted in very large debris pile.
