Weather

Very cold temps early warmed quickly with sunshine. Steady, moderate winds at ridge-crest and cols. Also noted blowing snow, mainly at peak-crests. Clouds rolling in again by around 2Pm

Snowpack

W and NW aspects - between 8-15 inches of new snow over hard old surfaces - depending on terrain features. New snow here was well bonded to the old. There was an interface within the new snow about 3-4 inches down and only the occasional cracking under foot in more wind-drifted snow. Noted numerous dry surface sluffs originating from steeper rocky terrain on a variety of aspects. Nice to see the good coverage.

Avalanche

A few long-running surface sluffs seen on various aspects near or above treeline. At least one D1.5.
