Weather

Snow continues in the La Sal Mountains. Over 105 cm of new snow has fallen at our Gold Basin Study Plot since December 24th. 182 cm for the month of December. Calm winds continue to just place fluff onto slopes with storm snow the biggest concern.

Snowpack

North Aspect at 11,300'. The sponge. 120cm - 100cm Fist, new snow. 100cm - 75cm Fist new snow, a bit more dense. 75cm-20cm increasing hardness from 4F to 1F. 20cm - 0cm Depth Hoar Crystals 2-3 cm. Failures @ 20cm layer...CTM20 Q2, ECTP20. Storm snow instabilities noted at 100cm layer with shovel burp test
