The snow just started to fall from about 9,000 ft and higher it is falling at an intensity of about S1 right now. The winds are 20 out of the WSW.
Snowpack
The snow pack has been very good believe it or not the wind slab from two weeks ago bridged the facets underneath the wind slab. So on one hand it pack in all our steep areas and during the control routes last week we had little new snow release from our artificial results. The most we have seen release is the upeer 25 cm on a really smooth wind pack that was below the upper wind pack. We had a really interesting event two evenings ago and we had enough humidity that created a little ice lens on top of the surface hoar. If you pick up the (ice lens? if that is what we want to call it) the surface hoar is stuck to it and is not collapsing but might be protected from the wind breaking down the buried surface hoar that had grown to 3 and 4 mm in spots around our zone. During our pits that we have dug there is not been much energy in the testing of the snow pack on the layers that seem to be potential problems that are buried 25 and 45 cm down in the pack approximately.
