My partner and I were approaching Hallett Peak to do a rock climb. We were hiking up a short slope on the SE side of the lake. The aspect was N or NE and the elevation was 10,300 or so. A slab broke and carried us both about 100 feet. I stayed on the surface but my partner was partially buried and I had to dig him out. The crown appeared to be about a foot deep. In addition to this slab avalanche, evidence of numerous loose wet avalanches was present on south facing slopes, like Dragon's Tail couloir.
