Weather
Very calm, with periodic S-1 throughout the day. Heavy fog rolled in for nearly two hours near and above treeline. Visibility was difficult. Could not see the higher peaks.
Snowpack
This area of the Front Range was not spared by the prolonged January storm cycle. HS ranged from 160-230cm in most areas I traveled. Previous storm snow is bonding well, but snowpit tests still show stubborn sensitivity on storm intensity changes/preserved stellars 80-90cm down. On south/southeast aspects below treeline, I found a few areas with HS of 60-80cm . These were the most concerning areas I traveled to. In one of these spots, I observed a rumbling collapse near rocks, but could not trigger a slab on a small test slope. The snowpack is visibly shallower and weaker at lower elevations. No signs of recent avalanches in any areas.
