Date: 20170122. Junction with Arapahoe Lakes/ Forest Lakes Trail and East Portal Valley Trail. NW slope. 10,620'. 4 degree slope angle. HS - 146 cm, Surface - PP / 1mm in size. 4 cm of new snow. Pen boot 50 cm, ski - 17 cm. Wind slab identified 20 cm down. Pen over 1F on DF. CTM x4 (CT12 x1 ,CT13 x2, and CT15x1) SC fracture character. PS identified at 85 cm down. Pen over 1F on FC. DTH x1 (DT26).
Avalanche
WS Natural Avalanche from continental Divide Crest. D2 to D3 in Arapahoe Lakes Basin. Witnessed from East Portal Road. Unable to further access as did not ascend basin. On 20170122 did tour to Crater Lake basin, but Intense blowing snow, S2 new snow made was observation unavailable.
