East-West Traverse 2-5 April

I guided this for Cloud Nine Guides. During our trip, the mountains moved into the diurnal Spring avalanche cycle. Good overnight freezes and cool days locked in the snowpack on all but steep solar aspects. We observed evidence of numerous solar induced slab avalanches in the alpine and treeline so think about the overhead on warm afternoons. The new Guy hut is fantastic!
