Weather

A beautiful, sunny day with excellent visibility. A bit breezy on ridgelines.

Snowpack

Overall, the snowpack in the Mosquito range seems to be a bit more advanced than many other Colorado ranges . Ground was poking up in places below treeline. The snow above 12,500' stayed cold all day and did not soften. The snow surface was mostly chunky and soft here. Snow softened up quite a bit below 12,500' and some nice corn was present in places for the ride down.

Avalanche

No avalanches were observed in the area and visibility was excellent. No other signs of instability were noted either. I did observe one avalanche on the drive to Leadville on the west side of Hwy 91. See other report for more information
