Cold sunshine

Cold but deadly day today at Dease Lake. We went up the Tower area, and found lots of evidence of the recent wind. Everything exposed was scoured but there was lots of deep loaded pockets and drifts on north slopes. We were watching out for Wind Slabs and decided to stay off all big alpine slopes. There’s lots of shooting cracks and small pockets on any steep loaded feature, in the top 5-10 cm In our pit we found a layer of surface hoar down 40 cm that was still reactive, and we were also collapsing the whole column on the big facets on the ground.
