Went for a long walk up diamond head from the logging roads. Variable snowpack, no major instabilities but we stayed away from anything over 25 deg.
Snowpack
Surface hoar up to 1700m, large (up to 3cm) lower down. Sun crust from a few mm to 3cm present on solar facing slopes up to 1400m. Only on steeper rolls above 1400. Wind slab on south and west slopes in the alpine, up to 8cm thick. Semi supportive.
Avalanche
Size 3 avi observed on north face of Columnar, looked to be a couple of days old. No other serious signs of instability. Sloughing off Atwell.
