Winter In The Right Spots

There is still soft snow and wintery conditions if you find the right spots. Multiple crusts in the upper 50cm of snow extend to ridge top on sunny slopes but there is soft snow in the shade. We enjoyed some late season powder in steep, shady trees and plopped some donuts in the Azu Bowl. By afternoon the surface was moist again where the sun was shining. At lower elevations (below 1300m) the snowpack is now quite moist and rapidly melting along the lower accesses.
