Given the dec. 1 surface hoar and recent sun crust that seemed to be causing issues else where in the pass we chose to head up the summer trail to avoid exposure. The warmer temps and sun crust made the skinning quite challenging as the new snow (10-15 cm) was not bonding at all! This will be something to watch for in coming days as snow accumulates! Dug a pit at the top of the couloir on glacier Crest, only obviously layer in the snow pack was the rain crust which proved unreactive. No sign of the hoar frost which makes sense given the rain. Felt confident skiing the couloir after letting stuff run past. Sorry no photos.
