Five Bowls of Fun

We found some afternoon sun today in the Torpy as we went back to Fifth Bowl. Riding was ok with a shallow dusting of new snow over a solid base. We saw some signs of slab avalanches on from the warm weather earlier this week along with glide cracks on sunny southern slopes. We also noted that the Surface Hoar from late December is down 90cm under a supportive snowpack and is becoming stubborn in our tests. This layer remains a low probability high consequence problem in the snowpack around treeline.
