Weather

Socked in by mid-day with snowfall consistent at S1 from 11am onward. Calm winds with temps in the 20s.

Snowpack

6" of new snow with another 3" accumulating throughout the day. The snowpack seemed to be forming up nicely with a deeper structure than other places in the state. However, our snow pit revealed 2 buried surface hoar layers, one 30cm down and the other 77 down out of a 115cm total snowpack. ECT results propagated at 14 & 17 on the lower surface hoar layer and changed our minds on the stability of the snowpack. Both layers will be reactive into the future and have good cause for concern.

Avalanche

We kicked off a little pillow and created a small Loose Dry avalanche (sluff). Other larger natural avalanches were observed but we less and D2 in size and difficult to tell how old.
