Intermittent heavy snow showers and gusty south wind. Three inches of new snow had accumulated by 2pm.
Snowpack
Storm snow and wind slab instabilities have become slightly more stubborn but continued snowfall and wind drifting kept the threat elevated. I did not approach any steep wind drifted pockets as the terrain didn't allow me to get close without excessive exposure. South and southeast aspects have strengthened now since colder temperatures have refrozen the old moist surface crusts. The wet issues are currently locked back up. A new melt/freeze crust has formed at the surface and small faceted grains were already visible below the crust. It is now buried and preserved under today's new snow and may pose a problem with the next storm.
