Weather

Clear skies, temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s at Pass levels. Light southwest winds. Snowdepths; Cumbres Trestle 52", Cumbres Pass 48", and La Manga Pass 36".

Snowpack

The snowpack is transitioning to its springtime regime. I traveled on southerly aspects where the snow surface was beginning to break down at 2 PM. I triggered a small (D1) wet loose slide while testing on a steep southeast aspect below treeline. Found a soft damp powder snow surface on a northerly aspect.

Avalanche

No recent natural avalanche activity observed along the highway corridor and in the surrounding backcountry.
