Clear skies in the morning turned broken by 3 PM. A few flakes were starting to fall. Winds were gusty from the west, and still finding a bit of snow to drift.
Snowpack
Above Treeline: The typical alpine mix is developing. Surface varies from extremely hard, wind-drifted layers to shallow layers of near-surface facets. Breakable crusts are sitting on top of 10 to 15 cm of faceted snow.
Near Treeline: Lots of stiff, wind-drifted snow sitting on layers of near-surface facets. Only minor cracking, and no other signs of instability.
Below treeline: The snowpack is very faceted. Ski penetration is only 20 to 30 cm, but boot penetration is to the ground. Sunny slopes are developing crusts.
