Quick report
- Riding Quality
- good
Tuesday (Dec. 19) - Steady snow all day until 4 pm, with moderate wind. NW slopes in the trees were very reactive. Measured HS 150cm at 1800m. The snowpack was very well bonded except for the new storm snow. Multiple results from ski cuts, with the top 30cm of storm snow sliding. Only produced sz 0.5s. Retreated back to base to wait a little bit. Went and skied nice deep powder a few hours later on South facing slopes, which by this time (4pm) was also about 30cm deep. Wednesday (Dec. 20) - Skinned up into the alpine to find wind blasted crust. All aspects were very wind affected with strong sastrugi (see photo). North aspects were variable crust and stable. Thursday (Dec. 21) Unsure if the wind would produce slabs, headed into the trees. At ~ 1800m very wind affected, but provided surprisingly soft skiing and was stable. (See photo 3)
