Incredible to have 50-70cm of powder - special days/conditions. Numerous size 1-1.5 storm snow slab avalanches seen throughout the steep (35+ degree) open unsupported slopes around Elgood Mountain in the Rossland Range on Saturday. Saw considerable propagation and easy release on small testable safe features. See in pictures. Dug a quick snow pit and could not find the early January or mid-January surface hoar that is clearly present within the Nelson Range - Kootenay Pass.
