Beautiful day above the cold inversion line around 1100m. Sastrugi and elevated old tracks were evidence of previous strong winds. Cornices have developed on ridgetop features Lee of the NE. Foot penetration 35cm. Test pit dug at 1350m on an exposed feature showed two significant ice crusts 80cm and 120cm above the ground. Compression tests had repeatable moderate to hard results 10cm below the surface with resistant planar fracture quality.
