Snowpack

Manual measurements at Molas Pass report a height of snow around 7 inches, about half of what Red Mountain Pass holds. I wandered on north and northwest slopes and found around 11 inches of light low density snow near treeline. Just deep enough to make hiking boots frustrating, and snowshoes slightly overkill, but plenty deep enough for a weak layer to develop before our next storm. Where I travelled, this layer is composed of decomposing fragments and small-grain facets.
