Intermittent sunshine warmed the new snow on southerly-facing slopes enough to limit Loose Dry sluffing but not enough for new snow to become wet. On northerlies near treeline, the new snow sluffed easily on steep slopes but with no slab present in the new snow, nothing propagated. Another 8 to 10 inches on top of this will likely present tender storm slab avalanching in the small D2 range. I was unable to produce failures in Extended Column Tests at the early February layer that produced multiple triggered avalanche involvements last week
