Return to winter in White Pass

Up to 50cm storm snow in the Fraser area. Moderate southwest winds loading NE aspects in the morning but dropping to near calm by late afternoon. 3 or 4 significant whumphs in buried wind slab on tree line and alpine features. We pulled back from steep slopes, particularly those with convexities and opted for lower angle, well supported features. Test pit on a north aspect at 1300m revealed 90cm total snow depth. Moderate, sudden planar compression test result on surface hoar/crust combo down 60cm.
