CAIC Observation Report
SnowpackEddie Clark ยท Nov 16, 2011
Weather
temps in low 20's (F) at the tunnel and low teens at treeline, winds moderate from the west with blowing snow, sky was obscured early and partially clear by noon.
Snowpack
Below treeline snow is mostly still too thin to ski- even the main trail had lot's of rocks and trees to traverse over and around on the skin in. Above and near treeline was very hammered by winds, many slopes were scoured clean. Wind slabs were forming on leeward slopes and I got some 2-4 feet radiating fractures in it. No avalanches were observed on any slopes. Didn't bother with any snow pits since conditions were so minimal and dismal -only rode a short low angle line.
